Domaine d’Anbalaba is more than just an exceptional real estate development. From its inception, it has stood out for its unique philosophy: integrating a residential project into a living village, growing alongside it, respecting nature, and fostering human connections.
To stay close to the residents of Baie du Cap and address their needs, the developer—after collaborating with numerous local associations—created its own foundation in 2022: Anbalaba Social Community (ASC).
ASC embodies the philosophy of Domaine d’Anbalaba. The foundation works concretely to improve the quality of life for residents, pass on valuable skills, promote local talent, and raise awareness of environmental issues.
Its commitment is now recognized beyond the island, as demonstrated by its third-place award at the prestigious GTI Awards 2025 (Greening the Islands).
In this article, discover the missions, actions, and impact of the ASC Foundation, and how it is transforming Baie du Cap into a true model of a sustainable and united community.
A recognized and award-winning commitment
The work of the ASC Foundation has not gone unnoticed. The project “Fostering a Sustainable and Entrepreneurial Community” was honored at the 2025 GTI Awards (Greening the Islands), winning third place. This international recognition highlights the exemplary nature of the initiative and its relevance for island territories.
It acknowledges both the foundation’s strategic vision and its concrete actions on the ground, whether in sports, education, environmental initiatives, or culture.
This recognition validates our model and our work, which combine social engagement, education, and sustainable development within a coherent and long-lasting project.
Thanks to these initiatives, ASC has quickly established a significant presence in Baie du Cap, as well as in the neighboring villages of Choisy and Saint Martin.
The foundation’s actions benefit 155 children aged 5 to 14, 30 teenagers, and 80 parents, highlighting the tangible impact of its initiatives.

ASC : A Mission, three goals
Since its creation, Anbalaba Social Community has had a clear mission: to grow the Domaine d’Anbalaba and the village of Baie du Cap together, fostering collaboration and shared development.
This ambitious mission is structured around three main goals:
- Building social connections: organizing events, activities, and initiatives that bring together local residents, Domaine d’Anbalaba owners, and visitors.
- Enhancing the social and cultural environment: supporting local infrastructure, promoting artistic and cultural expression, and creating a safe and welcoming environment.
- Promoting local talent: providing young people and adults with opportunities for education, training, and professional and personal development—especially through sports—and encouraging entrepreneurship and local initiatives.
Education et prevention : passing on knowledge and values
Education is at the heart of Anbalaba Foundation’s work. Its educational and cultural programs help children and young people develop their skills, curiosity, and cultural awareness.
Several professional diploma programs are also offered to young adults, enabling them to access qualified employment opportunities.
The workshops organized by the foundation cover a wide range of topics: prevention of alcohol, drug use, and violence; cultural and educational outings; as well as reading sessions and hands-on activities.
These initiatives create a stimulating learning environment where children learn through play and active participation, building confidence and social integration skills. For example, the Diwali celebration allowed them to discover Mauritian culture through readings, dances, and culinary activities, fostering a moment of sharing and togetherness for the entire community.
Environment and Ecology: learning to live sustainably
The ASC Foundation has made the environment a cornerstone of its actions, implementing innovative and participatory projects.
The shared gardens and vegetable plots in Baie du Cap, developed with the support of FAREI (Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute), allow residents to learn natural gardening and permaculture techniques suited to the Mauritian climate. Three training sessions have already brought together around thirty participants, who were able to practice directly using gardening kits provided by FAREI.
This approach promotes food autonomy, environmental respect, and the transmission of sustainable know-how. It also helps families reduce their food expenses and consume healthy, chemical-free products.
Art, Culture and Living Together
Children also benefit from educational outings, such as the trip to Green Village, where they discovered permaculture, local plant, fruit, and vegetable cultivation, as well as rare animals in Mauritius. These experiences spark their curiosity and encourage them to apply what they have learned by creating their own home gardens. This approach fosters an early awareness of nature, the earth, and ecology in general.
The workshop co-organized with We-Recycle complements this initiative: children learn to sort and recycle plastic waste in a fun and creative way. These activities demonstrate that environmental education can be practical, participatory, and enjoyable, while also raising awareness of real-world issues.
Focusing on Sport and Youth
Sport is a central tool in the foundation’s social strategy. It is not just a leisure activity: it is a means of transmitting values, promoting discipline, and creating opportunities for social connection.
Among its flagship initiatives, the foundation launched a boxing workshop with Christophe Ottendy, multiple medalist at the Indian Ocean Island Games and a native of Baie du Cap.
This led to the organization of a boxing competition in collaboration with the local Sports Association, the District Council of Savanne, and the Community Center, under the supervision of Christophe Ottendy. Young boxers were able to showcase their talent and team spirit while benefiting from solid and supportive coaching.
Another example is the “Mars Ensam Pou le Sport à Baie du Cap” initiative, which brings together boxing, basketball, and football activities aimed at raising awareness among young people about the dangers of drugs and violence. This event demonstrated to all that sport can be a powerful tool for personal growth. It received active support from parents, local clubs, and the Makondé association, and was also praised by the Deputy Minister for Arts and Culture, Véronique Leu-Govind.
These activities have a tangible impact: they provide young people with a safe environment, promote teamwork, and allow them to engage in constructive physical activities. They also help strengthen intergenerational and community bonds, as parents, teachers, and volunteers are mobilized alongside children and teenagers.
Looking Ahead
The ASC Foundation is far from stopping here. In the coming years, it plans to continue and expand its efforts to strengthen sustainable development, education, and social cohesion in Baie du Cap. Its priority objectives include:
- Consolidating social and cultural cohesion around the Domaine d’Anbalaba and the village
- Expanding the impact of its educational and sports programs
- Strengthening food autonomy and sustainable development in Baie du Cap
- Promoting local talent and entrepreneurship
ASC: much more than a philanthropic initiative
The Anbalaba Social Community Foundation is a driver of social and environmental innovation, a force for cohesion, and a model of a sustainable community.
From young people engaged in sports and cultural activities, to families involved in organic gardening, and artists and residents contributing to village life, ASC transforms Baie du Cap into a model of integrated development that respects the environment.
Today, ASC continues to grow, adapt, and empower everyone to contribute actively to the life of the community.
